At 9:00 JST the morning block opens. It closes at 11:30. Lunch runs 11:30 to 12:30. The afternoon block starts at 12:30 and ends at 15:00 JST. That is the full trading day.
- Morning block: 9:00-11:30 JST

Both blocks are fixed year-round. Japan does not observe daylight saving time, so these hours do not shift between summer and winter.

- London: The London block opens at 16:00 JST. On 15 July 2026 London is 8 hours behind Yokohama. On 15 January 2026 it is 9 hours behind. The overlap runs from 16:00 to 23:00 JST for afternoon TSE traders who continue after 15:00.
How do Yokohama traders handle JST and maritime UTC?
Yokohama is a major port city. Local traders, shipping companies, and logistics firms operate on JST for local business. For maritime operations, they use Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). This dual system matters for cargo deadlines, customs filings, and vessel schedules.
A Yokohama-based trader placing an order with a counterpart in London at 14:00 JST needs to remember London is 8 to 9 hours behind, depending on the season. A shipping firm scheduling a container pickup from the Port of Yokohama uses JST for the local team but UTC for the vessel’s arrival time.
